International Capital Secures 98 Acre U.S. Farmland in Competitive Auction for German Investor
1

International Capital, in strategic partnership with Capitaline, is proud to announce the successful acquisition of a premium 98-acre tract of farmland in Adams County, Illinois, marking their second U.S. farmland acquisition on behalf of a German investor. The purchase was made through a competitive public auction, capping off the 2024/2025 farmland auction season. We are looking forward to the next auction season, which begins in mid-October.

This milestone follows participation in over ten auctions throughout the season for this investor, with this transaction representing a significant achievement in an extremely active and competitive market. The auction saw over 130 viewers and more than 80 registered bidders, underscoring the heightened demand for hard assets amid continued global economic volatility. With a surge in investor interest and a limited supply of high-quality farmland, securing this tract represented both a strategic and timely win for our client—successfully concluding this year’s farmland auction season.

Located just south of Henderson County—in Illinois International Capital completed its last U.S. farmland acquisition in January 2025—the Adams County tract boasts prime, grade-A farmland. This tract is designated for row crop production, corn and soybeans, which are the dominant crops in the region. The land is tiled for optimal drainage, features strong productivity ratings, and benefits from excellent infrastructure connections, making it highly attractive for long-term agricultural use.

As the auction occurred late in the U.S. farmland buying season—which runs from post-harvest (October/November) to pre-planting (March)—swift action was taken to ensure immediate land use. A local farmer has already been engaged, and the field has been planted and the first round of weed control completed.

The investor's acquisition is part of a broader strategy focused on long-term wealth preservation and diversification through sustainable, income-generating farmland assets in the United States.

International Capital is looking forward to the upcoming auction season to acquire more U.S. farmland in the Midwest to continue expanding our client’s portfolio with high-quality land acquisitions.
