Dallas, Texas – A German Family Office represented by International Capital (IC) purchased a 20-year ground lease with the German discount grocer Aldi in Sun City, Florida at the end of November. It was the Family Office’s third real estate acquisition in the US over the past 11 months. IC has represented the client as real estate and acquisition advisor in all transactions. Aldi’s ground lease occupies a 2 acre lot on the southwest hard corner of the busy intersection of US 301 and Sun City Center Boulevard (US 674) about 25 miles south of downtown Tampa. This intersection has been developed with several well-known retailers such as Publix Grocery Store, Walmart Super Center and Wawa Convenience Store. Aldi’s store opened on December 15, 2016. The Family Office also purchased an adjacent vacant 1.5 acre lot. The plan is to develop this lot with a ground lease to a credit retail tenant as well. Both properties were purchased directly from the developer.
Martina Crevecoeur, CCIM, International Capital’s Vice President of Acquisitions/Dispositions represented the Family Office in the transaction.
